The individual members of Fred de Kock Architects bring a wide range of expertise and in depth practical experience to the initiation, conceptualisation and design of a development, in particular the kind of major projects listed below and displayed in the projects included in this document. Our input in conceptualising a major development incorporates expertise beyond the sphere of architecture due to the fact that we have completed some of these projects from a multi disciplinary platform. Project Management in our view is a crucial professional component due to the diverse inputs that must eventually be moulded into a cohesive functional development that will satisfy the client, respect the environment, that will be energy and resource efficient and in its final analysis will be economically viable.
We are well positioned in the digital environment with software, hardware and highly skilled technical operations to design and manage the projects we take on in a global environment through the implementation of a Building Information Model (BIM) process that will keep the client and the professional team informed on a regular basis regardless of their geographical location.
The implementation of the BIM process world wide is a proven model with financial and time benefits for a development.

RATIONALE:
Pearl Valley is ultimately about relaxation. The low – volume residential sections ensure maximum privacy with 360° views of the surrounding mountain valley. As a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, a variety of other features on the estate include the world class Health and Fitness Centre, well equipped with a Gymnasium, Jacuzzi and Sauna.
Pearl Valley has a particular architectural theme, but this is not so much in shape or form as it is in materials and colours.
The styles of the homes will have an “integrated” look, roofs and pathways designed to suit the surroundings.
Roofs of thatch or slate with wide overhangs provide shady canopies of an indoor and outdoor lifestyle.
There is an accent on superior craftsmanship throughout complimented with nothing but the finest systems and finishes. In the waterside homes, desks and boardwalks are prominent features
Leopard Creek Golf Estate
LOCALITY: Malelane, Mpumalanga

EXTENT: 890 ha – 251 Residential Units– Clubhouse – Sports and Recreation Centre.
RATIONALE:
Situated near Malelane in the heart of Mpumalanga. It is bordered on the south by the Kruger National Park and to the south and east by the Crocodile River. Bushveld Hills overlook the course from the east, providing an ideal backdrop for a magnificent golf course.
The Clubhouse is sited on the banks of the Crocodile River. The Clubhouse lounge leads onto a timber deck which affords excellent views of wild game at the Kruger National Park. The centrally situated Sports and Recreation Centre offers a range of sporting and leisure facilities.
A Range of pre-designed components are available from which property owners may choose. To maintain visual harmony all buildings are under thatch.
Erinvale Golf Estate & Hotel Development
LOCALITY: Somerset West

EXTENT: 155 ha – 425 Residential Units – Country Hotel – Conference Centre – Clubhouse
RATIONALE:
Erinvale farm is situated against the slopes of the Helderberg mountains, at the interface between the town of Somerset West and the more extensive agricultural estate of Lourensford and Vergelegen farms. The historic quality and natural beauty of the surrounding area were extremely important in the design decisions.
The golf estate has been developed on the lower slopes of the property and incorporates the historic homestead.
The higher reaches of the farm with pristine natural vegetation are being managed as an integrated part of the Helderberg Nature Area. The fairways of the 18 hole championship golf course are interwoven with the residential fabric to ensure that views are guaranteed and a sense of openness can be enjoyed from each property. Streets were designed and landscaped with great care to resemble a typical country lane and to ensure adequate calming of the traffic. Golf cart paths double as pedestrian routes linking the houses with the clubhouse and the hiking trails of the natural area.
The historic buildings together with its out buildings has been restored and incorporated into a country lodge set in a magnificent garden overlooking the 5th and 6th greens.
